Istituto Marangoni expands its presence in the Metaverse
In association with Igoodi, an Italian company specializing in photorealistic avatars of real people, Istituto Marangoni is joining the Metaverse with a series of projects.
Aimed at Generation Z, which represents the bulk of its students, the initiative will allow Istituto Marangoni to showcase student projects while hosting lectures and events, such as fashion shows.
The project is called “The Talent District; Istituto Marangoni’s Metaverse Revolution”. It is divided into an evolving series of futuristic districts, each featuring a building that visitors can explore with customizable avatars. These include an Infopoint, providing all the information about the Istituto’s programs; an exhibition pavilion, with the projects of the school’s top students, explained by their avatars. A theater, which hosts conferences and round-table discussions; the House of Partners, shows the projects created by students for partner companies in the IM Corporate Lab. Finally, the archives allow you to find the projects and activities of the Institute. Each area contains multimedia material and links to external resources. The other important partner of The Talent District project is Monogrid, a digital interactive agency based in Florence that develops platforms of the highest technological level.
“The desire to create new communication and teaching methods to dialogue “live” with Gen Z led us to create workshops and projects on virtual reality in the Design programs three years ago. This intention also materialized in the projects presented at this year’s Salone del Mobile. (…) The Talent District – Istituto Marangoni’s new metaverse – aims to be an innovative and engaging tool for the entire community of talented students and fashion, art and design enthusiasts. They will be able to create a world where creativity has no boundaries,” explains Stefania Valenti, executive director of Istituto Marangoni, in a statement.
Istituto Marangoni is also planning a new Master’s degree in Digital Design for Immersive Experiences starting in September 2022. All the school’s theoretical and practical fashion courses will address the Metaverse themes, starting in September 2022, to enable future fashion professionals to meet the challenges of a profoundly changing market.
