Don’t you just love a good belt? Diesel is certainly on the case, and they’ve been busy designing some truly stunning waistscapers. The label’s viral belt-skirt, a strip of leather that’s nearly impossible to sit down in, has been joined by several new contenders for best new waist accessory—and they’re not messing around.
For Pre-Fall 2023, creative director Glenn Martens wrapped models’ hips in chunky bands of metallic leather, extra-wide belts adorned with Diesel’s now-iconic “D” logo, of course. The belts are so shiny they look like armor from the future—or at least a very expensive accessory from an alternate dimension where fashion is different and everyone wears really heavy necklaces all the time.
The designer also introduced double-wrapped grommet belts, which further enhanced the waist’s emphasis. Martens’ continued focus on the waist is indicative of a wider industry trend, where designers are increasingly focusing on the waist to show off the curves of the female body.
Diesel’s classic B-1DR belt was also featured in the collection—a testament to Martens’ commitment to quality, and timeless style. Low-slung midi skirts paired with super low-slung skinny belts, and don’t think you just need to keep it one, layering belts is perfectly acceptable for the upcoming season.
